Other Half

Enter a fantastical world where love is the ultimate quest in Director Lina Kalcheva’s film, “Other Half”. The film follows Ren, a character who’s obsessed with the idea of finding their other half to become complete. But Ren’s journey to find love isn’t easy, and through a series of challenges, they’re forced to confront the reality of what it truly means to be complete.

Lina wanted to make Ren a relatable and sympathetic character, someone that viewers could root for despite their flawed decisions and actions. Ren’s obsession with finding love is taken to the extreme, showcasing how people often change themselves and overlook their own needs to please someone else. But through Ren’s journey, viewers are reminded of the importance of self-love and finding completeness within oneself.

The film has received critical acclaim, winning awards at various film festivals, including
the Sitges – Festival International de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya, where it won the Anima’t Award for Best Short Animation.
It also won the Audience Award for Best Short Animation at the Fancine: Fantastic Film Festival of Málaga and the Mecal Pro – Barcelona International Short Film and Animation Festival. Additionally, it received a Special Mention in the Experimental Category at the NOT Film Festival, an Honourable Mention at the Deep Focus Film Festival, and the Grand Prix of the Jury at the Anima Cordoba International Animation Festival.
