Produced in collaboration with creative agency DUDE Milan for Canva Italy, episode two of ‘Wild Design’ hands Picci1 a rather different brief. The first film sent our tech-savvy Italian pigeon to the rescue of a struggling Trattoria. This one takes him out of the world of business entirely and into a problem with fur on it, proving that the right bit of content can solve just about anything.
Lunch in the piazza is going nicely for the flock until a stray cat sends them scattering off the cobbles. While his feathered peers see a predator, Picci1 sees an image problem. Taking matters into his own wings once more, he uses Canva to build the social content that shows the cat as he really is—less terror of the piazza, more housecat in want of a sofa. The campaign is an overnight success. The cat, now christened Bartolomiao, is adopted into a loving family, and the flock get their lunch back.
This meticulously handmade film was again brought to life in-house at our Postgate Stage, Margate. Directed by Dan Richards, the production is set in the same world as Wild Design Episode 1 with two brand new feline puppets made from our friends at MacKinnon & Saunders and 3 brand new locations handmade in the A+C workshop.
Returning to traditional stop-motion was a deliberate nod to the campaign’s core message: a frame-by-frame celebration of the love, care, and artistry that goes into great design.
