STOP-MOTION VFX INTERNSHIP
May 2026

Location: On-site (Margate Studio)
Commitment: Full-Time, 3-Month Internship (Monday to Friday)
Dates: 3 June 2026 to 3 September 2026 (Option to extend)
We’re looking for a Stop-motion Post-Production Intern to join us in Margate this summer. If you love the craft of stop-motion but have post production skills and a passion, we’d love to see you down here on the coast.
The Role
Working alongside our post-production team, you’ll be hands-on across the post pipeline: cleaning up shots straight off the stage, compositing screens and VFX, and cutting animatics that shape future production.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Cleanup
Rig Removal: Painting out support rigs, wires and tie-downs frame by frame.
Blemish & Dust Cleanup: Touching up fingerprints, fluff, scuffs and continuity slips.
2. Compositing & VFX
Compositing: Bringing plates, passes and elements together in After Effects.
Tracking: Planar tracking and match-moving in Mocha.
FX Animation: 2D FX such as smoke, sparks, glows and dust hits.
3. Animatics & Production Support
Animatics: Animating storyboards to timing in Premiere to pressure-test sequences before we shoot.
Pipeline Support: Versioning, naming and deliverables, keeping the post pipeline clean.
About You
Where You’re At: A 2nd or 3rd year student in animation, VFX or a related discipline, or a recent graduate (within the last couple of years). No professional experience needed.
After Effects: Confident for compositing, paint and cleanup work.
Mocha AE Tracking: Familiar with Mocha or another tracker for planar tracking and roto.
Premiere: Comfortable cutting for animatics and edit support.
Photoshop: You know your tools, masks and layers.
Blender (Nice to Have): Bonus points if you’ve dabbled.
A Sharp Eye: You spot the wire, the dust, the dodgy frame.
Margate Resident (or Commutable): This is an on-site internship.

If you are a freelance animator, model maker, model painter, animation set builder, fabricator or art director? A+C Studios would LOVE to hear from you. We have some exciting projects on our slate and we’re very close to putting out calls to assemble our teams. We’d love to know who’s available in the coming weeks & months and what your latest portfolios are looking like. Equally, our design and post-production departments are likely to need some support with everything on our slate, so freelance illustrators, 2D animators, clean-up artists, and editors please do reach out.
We’ll have a range of opportunities available… single day hires, week-long & month-long positions and seasonal contracts. We’re able to cater to people to commute into our Margate studios and work remotely, where possible. Equally, our team can help you secure short-to-medium-term accommodation in the local area, if you’re based further afield so you can spend your mornings and evenings taking in Kent’s historic Thanet coastline, whilst spending your days at the amazing A+C Studios. Be assured – Our Producers will look at every CV submission and log you into our supplier’s database.
